Why This Mom Still Plays Minecraft

A Gen X mother of two shares why she continues to play Minecraft. Her boys are all grown up, and yet it still holds a special place. Mockumentary style but true story.

Some people think Minecraft is just a kids’ game. That’s only part of the story. This video is about why I still play Minecraft as a mom, even on my own, and why it has become something much bigger than a game for me. It’s about freedom, recovery, curiosity, and having a place where you can be creative and connect with others… even when that’s impossible in the real world.

Minecraft offers space to build, to wander, to rest, to try again. You can set your own pace. For some of us, especially those navigating chronic illness, burnout, or other life struggles, that kind of space matters a lot. Second Haven exists because play is not a waste of time. Joy is good medicine. If you’re like me and you need a place where you can just exist and explore, you’re not alone.
