Join Our Discord Server

Most communication among Haveners happens in our Discord server, not in Minecraft. We use Discord to communicate, because we’re not always logged into Minecraft. Many of us have the Discord app installed on our desktop computer and phones, so we can send and receive messages at any time.

We also use Discord to plan and coordinate events. While Minecraft is our three-dimensional shared world, Discord is our main communications platform.

You can join our Discord by clicking on this link:

Our Discord server is closely moderated, and new members must answer two short questions to join: what brings you to Second Haven, and what is your Minecraft username, if you have one. Only mods will see the answers to these questions. When shared here, your username will be added to our whitelist. This will also help us know who is who, since Discord usernames often do not match Minecraft usernames.

Our Channels

After joining our Discord server, you’ll see a screen with options in the left sidebar. These are a bit like pages in a website. Each page is called a channel.

Channels that start with a hashtag, like #getting-started, are text channels. Like most messaging apps (but unlike many social media platforms), the latest messages are at the bottom. Scroll up to see the message history or read “pinned” messages.

We also have announcement channels, chat forums, and voice channels where you can start or join a group call. Joining a voice channel is a bit like stepping into a lobby. You can hang out and speak to anyone else who joins the channel, or you can just chill and listen in.
